							| It was quite fair to clarify that it is a Scottish song. Nice. | 2 Dec 2008

							| I often say to my students, that to understand a people you must understand "where they are coming from"- which means you need to learn a bit about their history,
 culture, humor, slang and literature.

What is Victorian England without Dickens?
 What is America without Twain?
And what is Scotland without Robert Burns.(just for examples)

I would think that most teachers here know who Burns was or looked it up,-
now that information is so easily accessible on the internet.
and I dont think I know many Americans (a melting pot of many cultures)
who would take credit for Auld Lang Syne being an American composed song!

 just a thought.
