							| "I like summer"?
 |
							| Wel, here s is something one of my students asked me about last Monday. Tell me what you think: You can say "I like the summer" or "I like summers" but can we say "I like summer"? I think I ve heard it sometimes but I can t tell whether it is grammatically correct or not. | 12 Oct 2010

							| Yes. That s very commonly heard.   I don t like winter. I like summer.   | 12 Oct 2010

							| I like summer is talking about the general season. Yet I liked THE summer would refer to the summer just passed (unless specified of another year : eg I liked the summer of 1978) Hope it helps | 12 Oct 2010
