hi dear teachers, I have got a problem on relative clauses. I couldn �t combine these sentences, today was a very tiring day of mine :( I can �t concentrate on anything, and I �m trying to do these at least one hour! help me!
1) Edison was a great inventor. He invented the electric bulb. A bulb lights our houses.
Edison,who invented the electric bulb, was a great inventor . BUT I didn �t use the third sentence="A bulb lights our houses" Where should I put it in order to make a corrcect relative clause ?
2)A dentist is a specialist. He treats our teeth. they have problems. AGAIN three sentences:(
3)İzmir is situated on a bay. That bay is called İzmir Bay. İzmir isthe third largest city in Turkey.
4) A teacher is an instructor. He is tra,ned to teach a special subject in a school. It belongs to the state or to an individual person.
5)A job was advertised. A lot of people applied for it. Few of them had the necessary qualifications.

You could try these suggestions:
1) Edison was a great inventor, who invented the electric bulb, which lights our houses.
2) A dentist is a specialist who treats our teeth when they have problems.
3) �zmir is situated on a bay which is called �zmir Bay which is the third largest city in Turkey.
4) A teacher is an instructor that is trained to teach a special subject in a school, which belongs to the state or to an individual person.
5) A job was advertised, which a lot of people applied for it, which few of them had the necessary qualifications. |

Those Clauses...the closer we get to Christmas the more trouble they cause, especially the relatives. I �m sorry I just had to say that. Zora �s answers seem spot on. |
