							| Hi,   I have a question about too.    Is this sentence right : I like apples and banans , too ??????????     Can we use it to connect 2 words ?? or Should we use it to connect 2 sentences only e.g. I like apples and I like bananas , too ????????     Thanks a lot in advance, Pretty | 29 Nov 2010

							| The comma can t be in that position. I would write "I like apples, and bananas too." - this would be the answer to a question such as "which fruits do you like?"
If you wrote "I like apples and bananas too", it would be a response to a statement such as "I like apples and bananas".

							| When I was learning English (as a native) 45 years ago, we were taught that "too" (when it means "also") must always be separated by commas. That rule seems to have gone away. Bruce

							| I ve learnt it in the same way like you Bruce! but I would say that both of you are right, but there s a slightly difference in meaning
 i.e.
I like apples and bananas too (you say it without pause, no emphasis, no comma needed)
I like apples and bananas, too (a pause, you want to emphasize your thought)
