Hi, dear fellow teachers. Hope you are all feeling well.
I have a question for you. I came around a test where it says "It �s a quarter to six". It seems a bit awkward to me to see "a" here but maybe it �s just me. What do you think?

Hello Veljaca,
I think both are correct, a quarter to six and quarter to six, although you can only say half past six (with no article).

When I was young, I was taught it �s a quarter past or it �s a quarter to. Now I teach both
a quarter past or quarter past even though I have a strong preference for the determiner version.

Hello, my mom is English and we �ve always said a quarter to .... and a quarter past ...... but as things are changing they �re both correct nowadays.
