Hi all!
I�ve been looking for children�s names ... & found old ones I guess! Hmmm, whenever someone posts a ws about French kids , I noticed the names they use are usually old fashioned - like Sylvie!!! No kid would ever be called that name. Soooooooo, I wondered if some of you could post a (small) list of English names ( up to date!!)

Me again Sylvie, names run in fashion circles almost as much as the fashion fads themselves. I remember a very popular soap opera character in the late eighties whose screen name was Tiffany, low and behold just about every girl born in the UK in the following three or four years was named Tiffany, so much so that you couldn �t throw a stone in Hyde Park without hitting a Tiffany, (i know this to be a fact because it happened to me). I �ve bookmarked your link - Actually, my 15 year - old ones got mail from the USA, & sometimes, I just couldn�t tell them if it was a HE or a SHE mailing them !!!  There were names I had never heard before.... As for French names, I usually have a good laugh when some 10-or-11- year old HERE is called Colette ... Ha! Ha! As famous as she can be, it �s a name moms like mine usually have - BTW : My mom is 73....;o))

Some of the popular names for boys in my country �are Nikita& Sergey. For girls Nastya and Dasha are very common now. Masha and Sophiya are rather popular, and Polina and Ulyana as well. Also it �s rather common to give very strange names such as Kukla which means "doll" or Cherry. Once I met a girl whose name was Nikol. Names are co,,om where there are more russian-speakers than Ukrainian speakers. So it may be a bit different in �Western region. |

In Italy or where I live, the hit is Sofia for girls and Nicol� for boys. There are other names for girls like Aurora and Giorgia, for boys the most used are Manuel and Simone.

In Japan popular names for girls are: Lisa (Risa), Aoi (girls as well a boys name), Rio, Sakura
For boys I don �t really know but Kaito seems to be very popular around here. |
