							| Hi, I don t know if I forgot or it is new information for me.   I know that we use how many to ask about countable nouns and we use how much to ask about uncountable nouns.     Today , I have read new information for me. I have read this question : How much have you found ?   for this answer: I have found ten pens.      mmmm It isn t right to ask:   How many pens have you found ???? Can you explain this for me, please???       Thanks a lot in advance, :) | 2 Jan 2011

							| Hi,
The question is: How much (money) have you found? It is a question about money, and the word MONEY is uncountable in English. You can ask: How many pence have you found?, but it would mean How many 1-penny coins have you found? and it doesn t sound natural in English. Questions about money are always :How much?
I hope to have been useful:)

							| It is really interesting! I have never noticed that the coins "pence" and the "pens" are homophones... How much is it? is the most comon question we ask at the shops... The word "money" is omitted... "How much is it?" = "How much does it cost?"

How much have you found (up to now)?
This is a question I would ask my friend who has a metal detector. He regularly goes to the beach and try to find some jewellery and coins...

							| Hi dear Pretty, Where did you get that piece of information from? What I know is that we use"How many" for countables.  "How many pens have you found? " is entirely correct.  What our colleagues commented was well, I think.   The right way is to say: How much have you found? Not ....do you have found     P.S: Reference books and grammar resources are very helpful and effective! You can make sure of any question you need.      | 2 Jan 2011

							| On another note...
much is commonly used when you talk about volume as distinct from number quantity.
e.g. how much do you love me?         how much wine is left in the bottle?        how much money do you earn every week?

how many friends do you have?        how many pens did you find?        how many lollies dis you buy?
