							| If I understood the question, what you want to know is if your question is alright to ask your students. I would write: What part of speech is the underlined word? | 5 Mar 2011

							| Dear Pretty,   I am inclined to think that Ed has given you your answer, with "Parts of Speech".   "Oxford Dictionary of English Grammar": Part of Speech, (Word Class or Form Class). Generally recognised are nouns; verbs; pronouns; adverbs; adjectives; conjunctions; prepositions; and interjections.  Other categories are articles; and determiners.     Like Ed, I would also ask: "What Part of Speech is the underlined word?"   I hope that this has helped you.   Les | 5 Mar 2011
