 Incidentally, it �s not a phrase I often use myself - unless the student is a habitual plagiarizer. I �ve always thought of  �in your own words � as something that a lawyer might say to a not-too-bright witness, or a sort of oblique reference to Alice �s Humpty Dumpty ("When I use a word,� Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather a scornful tone, �it means just what I choose it to mean�neither more nor less.�). |  8 Mar 2011
