Hi Maggie,
One of the best resources I have found is a guide called English Language Teaching Materials - A Practical Guide (a treasure trove of learning aids and tips written by an award winning team of ESL Specialists) The authors are Mary Ormiston and Ruth Epstein. it is published by the CERTESL Program University of Saskatchewan 221 Cumberland Street North Saskatoon SK S7N 1M3. The website is www.uep.usask.ca. I hope this is what you are looking for.
