							| Opposite of practical clothes
 |
							| Hi everybody! I need your useful suggestions once more. I am about to start a new unit with my students and the main vocabulary  topic is clothes description. One of the adjectives in the unit is "practical", I d like to find asuitable opposite of "practical" when we are talking about clothes. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! | 29 Mar 2011

							| practical / impractical A short skirt would be an impractical choice of clothing for a librarian who had to climb a ladder. (Inappropriate too!)    suitable / unsuitable   We also talk about sensible shoes, the opposite would be impractical shoes.     | 29 Mar 2011

							| I agree with Apodo.  I think "impractical" would be the most common term in the U.S when referring to clothes. | 29 Mar 2011

							| Why not fancy , in the sense that practical refers to what to do in your clothes, whereas fancy would refer to excessive stress on appearance? | 29 Mar 2011
