							| 1) there is no OF in the sentence and the option itself, so I d go for answer C.... Thats weird tho, maybe there is a misprint because we usually say a pair OF...check if you typed it correctly here.

 2) B

							| To make uncountable nouns countable or nouns which are always in plural form we normally use phrases like "a pair of..., a piece of ..., an item of..." etc. So for question 1 the correct answer is SOME Students GO TO school (because they are students) so we don t use THE before school Mum is IN HOSPITAL (she is a patient) so we don t use THE before hospital etc.   We always use BY + car / bus / train / plane    BUT ON a/his/the plane / bus /bike  IN the/her/the car    So, dear Azuree the correct answer is GO TO SCHOOL ON BIKES   Hope I ve made myself clear :))   | 14 Apr 2011

							| Sorry Esosh but I can t agree with your answer on SOME as the correct answer for number one. Why, well you can t use some for scissors, sheers, pinches and so on because
they are pairs of one item. So the word of must be used in this
sentence.
You can say some apples, because they are more than one, scissors are one item
not two or more!So the sentence should be changed with using a pair of. Unless the sentence want s to say more than one pair of scissors ARE WANTED then this would be ok to use Esosh.
@ Azuree please change the sentence....! so you use the A. a pair ofREDBULL GIVES YOU WINGS YOU KNOW

							| Hi Kate, I love the name tag and where it s placed . As Esosh says in part of his statement....... here We always use BY + car / bus / train / plane BUT
 ON a/his/the plane / bus /bike
 IN the/her/the car
So the only time you can use I GO TO SCHOOL BY BIKE  NOT BIKES.

							| Actually, I do say "go and get me some scissors" when I need three or four pairs... I am not sure if it s grammatically correct or not, but it is said. Also, I can t see why it would be incorrect as we do say - some water instead of some bottles of water, some paper instead of some sheets of paper, etc.

							| I agree with ESOSH.   We can definitely use "some" with scissors, pants, glasses (spectacles), etc., which are in pairs. So, "Try to find me some scissors" is correct.   Also, with "by" for transportation, the singular is used - by train, by bike, by car "Children normally go to school on bikes" is correct.   Bruce | 14 Apr 2011
