Could anybody help me? Which is the right answer fo this question?
How long is it since you last ________ to the dentist?
a. been
b. went
I got confused with this. Please expain it for me. Thanks in advance!

I think with "last " you have to use past simple, for example,
It �s a long time since I last saw Peter.

I would use the pres perf in the first sentence and the past simple in the second.
How long has it been since you last visited the dentist?

Yes, it must be "went" because the past simple tense is used when it is important when the action took place. Another thing is that if the present perfect is used it �s with the auxiliary "have" - and we cannot use it with "pure" past participle.

How long is it since you lasT WENT to the dentist?
Before since we use the present perfect simple and it would me more correct if it was: How long has it been since you last went to the dentist? (After since we use past simple)
e.g. How long has it been since you last saw Mary? |
