							| Sunglasses - "a" or "some"
 |
							| Hello, dear friends.
I am just finishing a new ws containing countable and uncountable nouns and I caught myself on sunglasses. I d say it s some sunglasses, am I right?

Thank you for your help and wish you great day/evening/morning....

 Michaela

							| You re right dear Michaela, it should be
some sunglasses (plural noun just like jeans and shorts , you can use the sunglasses)

 or

 a pair of sunglasses

 Hugs,

 Renia

							| I agree with Renia - this is what grammar book say... we ll need Les to say if the word is also used without an article in regular usage.
Hugs to all of you and especially Renia ;-)

							| Dear Michaela, and Alexandra,   You are correct.   I bought a pair of sunglasses some time ago, but I have lost them.  In fact, I think that I bought two pairs of sunglasses.  The sunglasses are in my house somewhere, but I don t know where they are.   My daughter has some sunglasses with Polaroid lenses, but they were very expensive.  She looks really smart in her sunglasses, (or her Polaroids, if you wish).   I don t like wearing sunglasses.  I know that to some people, sunglasses make you look  cool , but I like to be warm .  Sunglasses are a status symbol for people who can t afford big, flashy cars.   Les | 10 May 2011

							| I LOVE your explanantion Les.  In fact, I have lost a pair of sunnies and now I need to buy another a pair because downunder sunnies are an essential part of our wardrobe for fashion as well as protecting our eyes from the harsh sun. In fact, they are talking about them now being part of the school uniform.  The kids all think that is cool. | 10 May 2011
