							| what shame!/what a shame!
 |
							| Hello there!
Ive got a question about these two expressions:what shame!/what a shame! Is their meaning different?
Do "what shame" mean you feel embarrassed and "what a shame" that you feel sorry??
 Thanks in advance!

							|     What shame!  could mean; How embarrassing!     What a shame!  would mean ; What a pity!   So Id say your meanings are correct.       Have a great evening. | 26 May 2011

							| mariec is correct, but we would rarely say "What shame!" I think "How shameful!" would be more likely to be used.   Bruce | 26 May 2011
