							| draw at will
 |
							| Dear ESL teachers,
I need help. In a passage I have to discuss with my students , I ve faced the sentence:
" The heated air grew quite easily hotter, as if from some enormous furnace from which it could draw at will."

The paragraph was describing a very hot day. I can t understand the last part "draw at will." I can t also figure out what the pronoun it refers to.

 I need your help
 Thanks in advance

							| "It" refers to "the heated air", since it is the subject of the sentence. To "draw" means to pull or even to take. "At will" means "As you want" (to will = to want).   So: The heated air grew quite easily hotter, as if it could pull more heat whenever it wanted from some enormous furnace.   Good enough?   Bruce | 20 Jul 2011
