							| Can you tell me more clearly the difference among these words: cancel, put off, postpone, delay. Although I tried to search via the Internet, I didn t make it clear. Could you share with me some exercises about this? Thanks | 26 Aug 2011

							| cancel - call sth off (completely), annul, eliminate (in some contexts) put off - delay, postpone, even repel or repulse (in some contexts) postpone - delay, suspend, adjourn delay - postpone, leave to be dealt with at a later time     In other words, the last three are interchangeable, but the first one doesn t mean to leave sth to be dealt with later, but to call it off altogether. Hope this helps. | 26 Aug 2011
