							| In or at the fun fair?
 |
							| Hi dear Colleagues,
I have a question. Which one is good? In a fun fair or at a fun fair?

I have seen both of them but can t decide which is the correct one? Or are they interchangable?

Thanks in advance for your kind help.

 Hugs,

 Susan

							| Hi dear Susan! I ve always seen "at" the funfair. I ve googled for "in or at the funfair?" and all the entries I saw were "at" the funfair, including these from BBC and British Council:       Have a nice evening. mena | 26 Aug 2011

							| Dear Susan,   Ascincoquinas link is informative. Mena is also corrrect.   No! The two prepositions are not interchangeable, (in my opinion).   However, it would be possible to say: "I was an entertainer in a fun-fair/I took part in a fun-fair/I worked for a week in a fun-fair".   This is the same as:"I was a secretary in an office/I took part in an exhibition/I worked for a week in a cinema".   Here is a short extract from the OUP Dictionary of Collocations.
verb + fair attend, go to, visit have, hold, host The city is holding its annual trade ~ in May this
year. organize She is organizing next year s book ~. fair + verb take place   preposition at a/the   ~ I
bought it at a local craft ~.    I hope that this helps.   Les | 26 Aug 2011
