Hi everybody:
I need your assistance. I saw an invitation to a wedding. It is of two Americans, so I assume it is correct.
The invitation says that the wedding was a 2:00 p.m. in the evening. I had never seen the word evening with such an early time in the afternoon. Can you please confirm to me if this is either an error in their invitation or an unusual but allowed way to call this time of day?

it should be 2 pm in the afternoon,
but perhaps it �s because it will start at 2pm and continue until the evening - for this reason, maybe they put � �evening � �
in any case: if you �re invited, have a good time!

It sounds quite odd, but I have heard it used before. I had a quite elderly teacher who used to say, �Good evening, students. � We would all laugh and snicker to ourselves. Perhaps it �s an old fashioned formality in some circles. |
