							| the USA and the UK pronunciation
 |
							| Hi, please help me. Which form is the correct one?
iː ˌjuː es ˈeɪ (the USA) or:
ə juː es ˈeɪ (the USA)

iː ˌjuː ˈkeɪ (the UK) or:
 ə ˌjuː ˈkeɪ (the UK)

I think that the correct one is /ə juː es ˈeɪ/  because USA starts with the consonant sound the same with UK.
 What do you think?

							| Hi, interesting question!
For the same reason that we say ə in front of yellow and yap , I think most people say:
ə juː es ˈeɪ (the USA) and
ə ˌjuː ˈkeɪ (the UK)
However, I m sure there are probably people who also say the = iː in front of the juː sound. It s not difficult to pronounce. | 20 Oct 2011

							| More commonly, we Americans say /ə juː es ˈeɪ/, but it is not a mistake to say /iː ˌjuː es ˈeɪ/. Not degrading the vowel to a schwa emphasizes "the" more. In fact, many times we ll just say /ə juː es/, and in that case, we ll almost always use the schwa because we are being lazy anyway. | 20 Oct 2011
