							| Hey, guys. I am confused by the word "the" Let �s see the sentences below: 1. I �d like the salmon grill for main course. 2. I �d like salmon grill for the main course. I just feel  2 is better but couldn �t tell why. any ideas? thanks advanced. |  2 Dec 2011

							| The first sentence could be used when ordering of a menu in a restaurant. "The" refers to the fact that there is only one Salmon grill on the menu. As it is the only one, you would use the definite article to indicate your choice to the waiter. 
 However, if you are in your own kitchen and wondering what to prepare for lunch the second option would be correct as you are indicating your preference not choosing from a list.
