							| Dear colleagues!

Probably it s quite a stupid question, but... In what case is it possible to use will or would after if ? | 13 Jan 2012

							| When you report questions. E. g. She doesn t know if he will come tomorrow. She didn t know if he would come the next day. BC in this case it s not a condition: she doesn t know what, not on what condition.
Or when there s a connotation of volition i. e. "will/would" is used as a modal verb E. g. Come if you will. (i.e. if you want/are willing)

							| Hi.
In special cases, if the person is too stubborn, selfish or unwilling to do something.  We hope he or she may change his or her mind.

If you would wait (=courtesy -would you be so kind to wait?), I will find out whether the doctor is in.
If you will have an abortion (=she insists on having an abortion), I won t marry you.
If he will take his medicine (=he is unwilling to take it), he might recover.
