							| How do you say numbers?
 |
							| I m sorry for my lack of knowledge but I really need to know:
 for example, 230 000

 how do we say it?

two hundred thousands and thirty thousand?
 two point three hundred thousands?

what if it s more complicated? like

 357 8965?

If there s any website that explains this well, can you please state the link?

please help me, I always have this problem and I m embarrassed with it. Thanks in advance!

 Regards,
 Sirhajwan

							| I have recently made an interactive book about numbers for my students. You can have a look at it here (you can enlarge the book by clicking on Afficher en plein cran ).   | 16 Feb 2012

							| We don t put commas any more in numbers, at least in Spain. The reason is that sometimes numbers were confused in the case of decimals. 23,555 could be confused with 23.555 230000 two hundred and thirty thousand 3578965 three million five hundred and seventy-eight thousand, nine hundred and sixty five | 16 Feb 2012

							| As a Math instructor, I ll point out that it is not correct to use the word "and" in a whole number, since "and" is used to separate the whole number from a fraction or decimal.   230,000 - two hundred thirty thousand   .243 - two hundred forty-three thousandths You can t say "two hundred and forty-three thousandths" here because of the following:   200.043 - two hundred and forty-three thousandths   Sorry for being Mr. Picky, Bruce (Actually, I love being Mr. Picky)    | 16 Feb 2012
