							| RHYTHM - Are there only consonants in this word ?
 |
							| About this statement: In the word RHYTHM there is no vowels ,only consonants . Why the Y in this word is not a vowel ? How can we distinguish when Y is a vowel or consonant ?

							| In general, an English word must have a vowel. The y in "rhythm" is the only vowel in the word, so it must be a vowel. You can also tell by the fact that it has a vowel sound in this word (as opposed to its pronunciation in "you" and "yes", where it is a consonant).   Bruce | 26 Mar 2012
