My question is if option C is also correct. If not, why not? Thanks in advance

I don �t think option C is right, the one that sounds best to is b, though a looks ok too. Option b is formal, the same as the sentence

I would write consequently or as a result.. Both used as adverbs in your sentence.
I won �t choose for this since in my opinion it should have said FOR THIS REASON..
