							| Hi friends from all over the world!   In Portuguese when someone is always alone, probably because he/she has no friends, we can say that he/she looks like an abandoned dog. Its something negative to say about someone else. Is there a similar expression in English? Thanks in advance! Cristina   | 27 Apr 2012

							| We often say :"He s  a loner" which can be taken as derogatory, but not necessarily.    "Outcast" is also another option that is more negative.   Abandoned dogs-we usually refer to as "strays" or "stray dogs".     | 27 Apr 2012

							| We definitely use the slang Billy No-Mates which is often just abbreviated to Billy .

							| I agree with Douglas overall.  "He s a lone wolf" it is taken to mean that he chooses to be alone and is a little rebellious towards society, but isn t necessarily disrespected, just outside the mainstream. | 27 Apr 2012
