Hello,
I have a doubt.
What´s correct? "The first day we went to...", or "on the first day, we went to..."?
I think both of them are correct, but I´m not sure.

both are fine.
I think the second one is used more often for written English and the first one sounds more like spoken English.

hello Guadalupe, i think that they dont mean the same
the first day we went to ... ( i would change it by ) the first time we went to..... DISNEYLAND was gorgeous !
( you are explaining what u did for the first time)
on the first day, we went to Disneyland, it was gorgeous, on the second day we went to the theatre!
( you are explaining what u did on the 1st day of a specific moment )
I´m not native, this is what i understand

Naby, I don ´t agree. We wouldn ´t say "the first day" to mean "the first time", as far as when something occured. We would use it if we wanted to refer to the whole day, as in "The first day I lived in Cincinnati was filled with great experiences". Bruce |
