							| Both are used. You can say:"Listen to him talk about his life/I heard her sing/We saw you swim"...etc And it is perhaps more common after the verbs of senses to use the -ing form in English. What would you say,English native teachers? | 1 Jul 2012

							| "Listen to Greg and Terri talk about their daily routines."   This sentence is quite OK. @miyoko This form would be used as a title, or by a TV announcer. They wouldn t actually be talking at the time.   You are right , the ing form is used when the listening is happening. eg: Listen to the bells ringing in the distance. | 1 Jul 2012

							| As a Brit, I would say "Listen to people introducing themselves".  It sounds funny to use the present simple here, especially if the sentence is just before a listening comprehension dialogue. | 1 Jul 2012

							| @jannabanna,That s the bare infinitive, not the present simple.   Bruce | 1 Jul 2012

							| Of course it is, silly me - must be tired.  But I still think the gerund fits in better here, what do you think Bruce? | 1 Jul 2012

							| @jannabanna, I think it works both ways. (Also, I think that s a present participle, being used as an adjective, rather than a gerund).   Bruce | 1 Jul 2012
