							| English Only
 |
							| Hi,   Does anyone have some ideas about how to encourage English only in the classroom.  I especially want to get the younger learners speaking only English.   Thanks, Esther | 15 Oct 2012

							| It depends on how young they are. I have a puppet who speaks and understands only English so my six year olds have to use English inorder to interact with him. | 16 Oct 2012

							| Thanks Fleur.  I use puppets too with the very little ones.  I teach all ages -- from 4 to adults.  The ones I m thinking about are from 7 to 11.  They know some English but are reluctant to use it.   When I was in Taiwan, we had an English only policy in the classroom.  We used reward tickets to encourage and punish the use of Chinese.  It worked extremely well but  I found that a little cumbersome here so I am looking for other methods.   Thanks for your input, Esther | 16 Oct 2012
