hi everybody! I �ve a little question. Do you say "back home" or "back at home"? I prefer the first one but perhaps i �m totally wrong!!! please tell me. Sophia

It depends on meaning. He came back home two days ago.
but
He is back at home and ready to work. |

No, you always say BACK HOME
ex - �I �m back home � says the wife to her husband
He �s back home for good /for dinner etc
She �s back home after a long trip!
BUT
She �s AT HOME - that �s where she is right now and will probably be for a while
AT HOME meaning - in her house!

I agree with Katia. If you want to say "He is at home once more", it would be "back at home", as in her example. It is especially true if you are somewhere other than home when you say it. If you are at home and on the phone, telling someone about your plans for today, you might say, "I �ll be at the office until 5, then back home about 5:30 for the evening." If you are at the office, telling your colleague about your travel plans, you might say, "I �ll be in Singapore until Thursday, then back at home for two days, so you won �t see me for a whole week." You would also use "back at home" if you are talking about someone else �s plans. Bruce |
