							| PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!
 |
							| Dear colleagues,
I am teaching a class with students who are very shy to practice the English language orally. They are beginners and have severe problems understanding the past simple - are there any activities/games that might be of help?
Thank you in advice | 4 Dec 2012

							| hi! You can play dominoes with them using past sentences. Also, you can play with a ball to practice the past form of the verbs. For example you say the first verb  "go" and the one who catches the ball has to say it in past form. He or she has to throw the ball and say a new verb and the following who catches the ball has to say the past form of that verb, and so on. I have done it and students liked it very much! kisses | 4 Dec 2012

							| My students like this memory game:  You ask student A "What did you do last night?"  Student A says something like "I ate dinner."  Student B has to repeat and add "I ate dinner and I went out."  Student C has to repeat the 2 phrases and add another i.e. "I ate dinner and I went out and I saw a movie."  and so on until they can t do it anymore. | 4 Dec 2012

							| I made a set of verb flash cards (it s a printable I ve uploaded to this site). I explain the speaking game students play with them. I had good success getting even the lower-level students to speak. In fact, they got so eager to play the game, I had to make them slow down and speak correctly.
