I �ve recently taken a test and one of the questions was:
Read the sentences I, II and III. Then choose the correct alternative.
I. Unfortunately the chairman hasn�t understood what I meant.
II. Have you ever rode a horse?
III. A forsaken dog makes me cry.
a. Just in sentence I and II verbs are applied correctly.
b. None of the sentences have applied the verbs correctly.
c. Sentences I, II and III have applied the verbs correctly.
d. Just in sentences I and III verbs are applied correctly.
I know sentence number II is incorrect because the correct past participle of the verb to ride is riden.
As far as I know, the word forsaken, in sentence III, is an adjective that derives from the verb forsake and the adjective has the same form of the past participle of the verb, but it no longer is a verb. Isn �t that correct?
So to me, there isn �t a correct option for this question.
What do you think?
Please, help!

Hi : A participle is a verb form that can be used as an adjective to describe a noum (ex. A forsaken dog, a spoiled child and so on) The participle is used when the noun is the receiver or the "victim" of the action. . From my point of view, d) is correct. I hope it�s helpful |

Just to add to florimago �s excellent answer, the verb in III is "makes", which is applied correctly, so "d" is the correct answer. Bruce |
