							| 1) c - Erm, now then, the reason! It s a kind of subjunctive that we use after I wish. Hadn t met would be possible if the rest of the sentence was because I felt too tired. 2) a - raised. It s the past participle and actually it s acting as an adjective here as well. It has to be past, as the money has already been raised.
You may get better explanations! I know they re right as I m English, but I m not absolutely certain why. An ESL speaker may be able to provide a better explanation, but I ve had a go! | 1 Jan 2013

							| 1.You are meeting Susan this afternoon.(Semantically future) This is already scheduled. As you are very tired and unwilling to go out you wish you weren t meeting her. "wasn t meeting" is the right choice.

							| for unreal situations we don t use present but past. I wish I were rich. (I am not rich but I d like to be.)

							| For part 1, there are 2 reasonable choices.
(a): I wish I hadn t met Sarah this afternoon as I feel too tired to go out.
(c): I wish I wasn t meeting Sarah this afternoon as I feel too tired to go out.

 Why?
 Because...

In (a) you are talking about the past and present.
You did meet Sarah - as a result you are tired (too tired to go out).

In (c) you are talking about the present and future.
Now you are tired, and because you are tired, your plan to meet Sarah is not good.

 Note:
Admittedly, it is "correct" to use were rather than was (weren t / wasn t) in strictly grammatically correct English, however "was / wasn t" is also widely accepted in modern English as "correct" now.

If this is a test in which only one answer is "correct", please guide the students using context.

							| I agree it s wasn t meeting and raised , but it should be I wish I wasn t meeting... (the second I is missing!) Best wishes for the new year! | 2 Jan 2013
