Well, if we are getting serious about it, it is strange and where and when did it creep in? Things are not intrinsically m or f. Of course it refers to noun classification, but where is the logic? Nouns are nouns, why should they be grouped in this way? Does it enhance our understanding? I was joking about English being straightforward, by the way. |

In Arabic, Mrs spoon and Mrs fork are both Mr Knife �s spouses. .

In Armenian there is no gender. Both are treated alike. |

In Hebrew, spoon (כף) is feminine, and fork (מזלג ) is masculine. Adjectives and verbs need to be adjusted according according to the gender of nouns....a real pain!! |
