I have to prepare a unit for my 11th form students on the topic "The world of work". I really don �t know how to start and how to develop the topic in an interesting and appealing way. Can you help me with some of your wonderful suggestions?

You can introduce the topic with this song I worked with my eleven years old pupils.

After listening the song, they write their favourite job in a piece of paper, setting it on their clothes or on the desk. Then they make questions about the jobs they �ve chosen.
What do you want to be? or What �s your favourite job?
I want to be a .... My favourite job is ....
Why do you want to be a ... ? I want to be a .... because......
Writing exercise:
The teacher works in a school
The doctor works in a hospital.
They can draw their job too.

I star my unit on jobs by using the beginning of the film Nanny Mc Phee (The first one). Since the children manage to have their nanny resign, Mr Brown has to look for another nanny. |
