Hi friends,
What would be more correct from the grammatical point of view?
The best option is to practise sport
The best option is practise sport
The best option is practising sport

The 2nd one isn �t correct. I think both options 1 and 3 are fine, though I prefer 1. No. 2 would be OK in speech, I think. Or, with a colon.
The best option is: PRACTISE SPORT!
(Actually a better verb might be, to do more sport or to take up a sport.)

@ Ed. Not in British English, apparently. Further to the correct verb - go, if the sport ends in ing (unless you just use the verb itself i.e he goes boxing or he boxes). Do if it �s hard physical activity i.e he does karate and play if it �s team work and/ or it �s competitive, or there is a ball. Just general guidelines....
With sport in general - do. |

RE Sport - I get confused with this too so I googled it and found a blog that referred to The Guardian online newspaper http://www.guardiannews.com/
If you toggle between UK and US editions you �ll see that for the sections US uses Sports and UK uses Sport. Interesting huh?
Option is 1 is grammatically correct though agree with Lynne that option 3 is used in informal speech. Option 2 is incorrect.
