Dear friends,
have you ever seen a diagram of (all) English tenses with explanations which tense to use in which case?
It would look like a picture of interlinked bubbles or something...
It might look like a "spiders web" - decision making diagram - which tense to use...
For example:
1a) On Mondays, every week - about past - use past simple
1b) On Mondays, every week - about present time - use Present Simple
1c) You speak about everyday actions - Use Present Simple
2) You speak about today�s actions - Use Present Continuous
3) The second part of the sentence is in Past Simple - Use Past Perfect for previous actions
4) The first sentence is in Present Perfect and the second sentence tells the exact time of the action. - Use Past Simple or Past Continous...
So I am looking for "a map of directions" which tense to use ...
IT IS MEANT AS A TOOL FOR ADVANCED STUDENTS - SOMETHING WHICH WOULD HELP THEM TO MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION WHILE DOING THE MUTLIPLE CHOICE TEST on tenses.
Could you help me? Have you seen something like that?
Please pleaase, need your help !

Dear mariabizarro,
They are both useful, but I was looking for a diagram - something like:
Question1.... -- 1a-yes ----------- use Present Simple or Present Continous --------
--- Question2 .. ---- 2a) YES - use PContinous
.. ---- 2b) NO - use PSimple
Question1..... --1b-no ------------- use Past tenses
I rather looking for a picture - diagram - decision making map , not a table...
Anyway, Thanks a lot !

Morav,
I don �t know if you are still looking for a Mindmap for the tenses, but I thought it was a good idea and have added one to my site. You can find it at:

If you can learn all of the tenses on the map, then you will be doing very well indeed. I doubt many native speakers would know them all.
