Hi!
I �ve got a question regarding the use of the definite article with superlatives.
Why is it acceptable to omit it in the following sentences?
"Of all the people she spoke BEST at the meeting"
"They �re bad musicians and the guitarist plays WORST of all"
Is it because they are adverbs?

I think yes because they are advs not adjs , BEST describes the action of speaking in the 1st sentence while MOST describes the action of playing in the 2nd. In case you rephrase the sentences like this you �ll need to add THE: "Of all the people at the meeting, she was the best speaker " "They �re bad musicians and the guitarist are the worst players of all" |
