							| Hello, dear friends.
A friend of mine wants a tattoo but I am not sure which tense to use. Could you help, please:

The fortune shuffles the cards, we are playing them.

 or

The fortune shuffles the cards, we play them.

 Which one is correct?
 Thank you for your help,
 Michaela

							| I d rather choose the 2nd; it sounds like expressing a general truth of this world being ruled by fate.

If you choose the first, I suppose we need to put the verb shuffle in a tense showing the  anteriority of this action: The fortune has shuffled the cards, we are playing them.

							| I d also choose the second one. If you wanted to use the first you d need to change the verb "Shuffle"as Mohamed well say.

							| I d say: Fortune shuffles the cards we play. Let s wait for the natives! | 13 May 2013

							| Fortune shuffles (deals is better) the cards, we play them. There is a saying It s not the cards you are dealt, but the way you play them that matters. Or variations of that.  | 13 May 2013

							| I agree with Lynne (as usual). Note that it s not "The fortune". Also, I would use a period or semi-colon rather than a comma.   Bruce | 13 May 2013
