							| Dear friends, I need your opinion. Is this sentence correct?

Oscar Wilde was an Irish playwright and
novelist, who along with the plays,
poems
 and short stories wrote
remarkable fairy tales.

							| I would change "the" to "his" and I am a little unsure about the commas.   hmmm... It could also be taken that the plays, poems and short stories wrote fairy tales too, but I don t  think it is bad enough to warrant change.   I think I would do it like this:   "Oscar Wilde was an Irish playwright and novelist who, along with his plays, poemsand short stories, wrote remarkable fairy tales."

							| Looks fine to me. I wouldn t change it. (for the plays etc. it is implied that he wrote them - the plays, poems and short stories - that he wrote - ........) | 1 Jul 2013

							| Miss out the and put a comma after short stories. I prefer as well as to along with .   And I prefer this, although as Douglas points out, the original word order is OK.    OW was an Irish playwright and novelist, who wrote remarkable fairy tales as well as plays, poems and short stories.     However, the original emphasises that he wrote remarkable fairy tales, and maybe that is what you want.   | 1 Jul 2013

							| I agree with Lynne. If you want to keep the word order, I think "in addition to" works better than "along with" or "as well as".   OW was an Irish playwright and novelist who, in addition to plays, poems and short stories, wrote remarkable fairy tales.   Bruce | 1 Jul 2013
