Hi racim,
concerning your question about the pronunciation of the modal "can" in the negative and the interrogative as well as in the affirmative forms. First of all, we know that this modal has got the "weak" and the "strong" form. 1-concerning the interrogative form, can you play the guitar? here it �s /kən/ that �s to say: the weak form. 2- concerning the affirmative form, I can play the piano. Here it �s /k�n/ that �s to say: we use the strong form. 3- Concerning the negative form here it depends on the English you use, American or British English. *If you use the British English, it �ll be pronounced /kɑːnt/ , *If you use the American English, it �ll be pronounced /k�nt/. |
