							| Food
 |
							| I think it s a silly question, but how do you say: My favourite food is pizza and pasta

 or
My favourite food are pizza and pasta?

 Thanks for your help

							| I remember I was surprised when watching a movie I heard one of the characters say, "My favourite fruit is oranges" I think the first sentence is correct (food - uncountable) If you were to say, "Pasta and pizza are my favourite food" that would be correct as well. | 14 Jan 2014

							| You could say either:   My favorite food is pizza and pasta.
 or
My favorite foods are pizza and pasta

I would lean toward the second myself, but it really is optional I would say.

							| I agree with douglas. Unless you eat them together as one dish, they are separate foods ("Food" has both a countable and an uncountable nature, depending on how you are using it).   Bruce | 14 Jan 2014
