							| Hi,
 I read a post in a website about I m done and I have done.

 What s the difference please?

 I thought that we can t say: I m done.
 I heard in a movie !!!

 What should students say after finishing doing the exercises: I m done or I ve done" ?? | 16 Feb 2014

							| As much I know about them;
 I ve done = I finished something.
 I m done = I give up.
 I am sorry if I am wrong. |  16 Feb 2014

							| Grammatically speaking, "I have done" is a present perfect, and "I am done" is using the past participle as an adjective. Practically speaking, "I have done" is transitive and needs an object, but "I m done" is intransitive and does not take an object.   Examples: I have done the exercise. Exercise is the direct object. I m finally done [with the exercise]! The prepositional phrase is optional, but there s no direct object.   I hope that helped. | 16 Feb 2014
