							| Hello everyone ,  I would be grateful if anyone answered me this question ?
When we add the noun suffix   " -ment "   to some  verbs such as  :  argue            argument         the    e  is deleted  . excite            excitement       the  e   is  not deleted  .   Is there a rule for this  ?
 Thanks for you all .

							| It has to do with pronunciation: magic E:-)  Excitement needs the E to keep the ai sound. When you remove it, it ll sound like i . Hope it s helpful. | 18 Feb 2014

							| Good answer, a.antonides.   I would say that argument and judgment are just exceptions to the rule. I can t think of any others.   Bruce | 18 Feb 2014
