							| īto ī as a preposition or infinitive
 |
							| Hi all - I have a student who wants to know about the verb + to + verbing construction. I īve been digging aroung trying to find out about the rules etc and it has opened up a can of worms (for me at least)!!!!!! How do you know when īto ī is an infinitive and when it īs a preposition??? Also when it is a preposition, when does the student know whether to follow it with a noun or verbing??? As a native English speaker I īve not learnt rules like this. Please can I ask the grammarians like Bruce, Moody Moody etc to explain?   Many, many thanks!!!! | 20 Feb 2014
