							| This was a question on a test.  Do you think I should allow / accept the second answer because the wording was confusing?  They were asked to use Past simple or Present Perfect  only. | 6 Feb 2009

							| "How long had you lived there?" is more acceptable. How about, "How long were you there?" or "How long did you live there?" | 6 Feb 2009

							| Should I give them the points for    have you lived     ?   Because the question isnt worded properly so its my fault? | 6 Feb 2009

							| In this case Eng789, accept the past tense... I would. Its the only option close enough to actually being correct. The Present Perfect is not an option there - it is wrong... OR if it is your fault, dont even count the question... explain you made a mistake and thats that.

							| But because of corruption in language - many, many Americans say: How long did you live there before coming here.

							| Good morning Libertybelle,  I was wondering when you would show up.   I know my English is "corrupt"  as a m.t.e.s. living in Israel for so many years.   So, heres another one.       One of the most successful movies in history _______ (be) "Jaws".   I think it should be  was  but  others say is.       What do you think??? | 6 Feb 2009
