							| We use "for" when we say a period of time ( two weeks, six hours...): I haven t seen Tom for three days. Sally has been working here for six weeks. We use "since" when we say the start of a period ( 8 o clock, Monday, 1977...): Sally has been working here since April ( =from April until now) I haven t seen Tom since Monday. (= from Monday until now)

							| hi, blesses, though I agree with JuliaKaraban s explanation, let me add something : I always tell my students and it always helps : For is always followed by quantities of time (a year , two months, three years, four days ...) and since is for the rest . As simple as that !!!
Cheers
