							| Xanthippe is a slang term used in Piers Anthony s books to refer to dryads.   Xanth: his fantasy world inhabited by humans and magical creatures hippie: slang for a person who believes that modern culture and mores are unnatural and that people should do be more hedonistic   Since hippies are often called "tree-huggers," and dryads live in trees, the connection is solid if not completely obvious. However, language is full of analogy and metaphor. | 17 Mar 2014

							| Xanthippe is slang for the "scantily clad hippie" of the sixties, as opposed to the "hipster" hippies of today. Today s hipsters usually use it in a demeaning way. I am not a xathippe, don t you see, I wear the latest brands and uploaded my outfit to instagram before you did! | 18 Mar 2014
