							| THIS or NEXT?
 |
							| Hello dear colleagues,
 a question for you:
 I turn 14 next May.
 I turn 14 this May.
Are they both correct, talking about the current year?
 Thanks for you help,

							| Dear friend,
I think, I turn 14 this May , is conversationally right, though both of them are grammatically correct, when refering the current year I prefer THIS MAy

							| I turn 14 this May, if it s already May or the month is already referred to in the conversation, though the birth date is not reached yet. I turn 14 next May, if it s not May yet or it s now May but I turn 14 only the following May. | 1 Apr 2014

							| You can use both. However, to prevent confusion I suggest "this May" or "in May"- "next May" will almost always lead to a follow-up question like: "Do you mean this year or next year?"   Cheers, Douglas | 2 Apr 2014
