							| Problem word :)
 |
							| Hello everybody. I have a question about a word contest .
I was reading a dialogue (in which the employees are discussing their new product promotional campaign) when I came across the following sentence:  "Contests probably won t be very effective, but I think direct mail might work if we partner with another company offering calling plans or Internet service."
What s the meaning of the word contest in this context? ( it can t mean competition, can it?) | 24 Apr 2014

							| It definitely can. Companies often run contests to help promote a product. For example, a restaurant chain here in Cincinnati had a contest to try to guess the item they were going to add to their menu. Frito-Lay recently held a contest to create a new flavor for Lay s potato chips.   Bruce | 24 Apr 2014
